Tired of waiting

11/25/07
Hi... Sorry I've been away so long. I've been
bugging my Dad to get back to this blog thing, but
he's just been too busy. So being the resourceful cat
that I am, I took it into my own paws and I looked up
a lady by the name of Mavis Beacon and learned how to
type for myself. Now I don't have to wait for him to
type for me. Besides, this way you get it straight
from the Cat's mouth

In fact, who's the cat here anyway??? I'm a CatNamedMac, not him, so I'm taking his pen name back. From now on he's just 'Dad' and if he's got something to say he can go ahead and add stuff. Besides, I've got more time on my paws than he has anyway.
Dad has had the opportunity to work with my newest brother in the Mac OS X family. You know Leopard... I'd like to say that it was a "piece of catnip", but unfortunately he's been calling it a few other things that I can't share with you.
He thought he'd play it safe with his newly "supercharged" G4 Digital Audio. He's put in a Dual Layer DVD drive; upgraded to 1.5 Gb of Ram; upgraded the PowerPC to 1.6 Ghz. It was a lean, clean machine with Leopard in its sites. So after using Super Duper to make a clone of his hard disk, he popped the Leopard Family Pack DVD into the drive and "updated" the Tiger 10.4.9 system to Leopard. He was so happy... for awhile ;-(
Suddenly, that cute little 3D dock just wasn't as snappy as the dock had been in Tiger. Most everything else seemed OK, but just about anything that involved graphics just wasn't cutting it. Time Machine wouldn't even launch... We didn't even have a translucent menu bar to complain about.
It seems that after checking a little further, the old 16mb of graphics ram just didn't cut it with Leopard. We checked with the "Mother Ship" (www.apple.com)for the Tech Specs and they didn't even mention anything about graphics memory. Sheeeesh!
So after agonizing over the decision for several days, Dad just used our Tiger clone and went back to 10.4 until we figure out another strategy.
Well, my paws are getting tired, so I'll stop for now... But I'll continue the Leopard saga next time...
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!
